Croatia will not join the “Peace Board” introduced by US President Donald Trump, announced the country’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, without giving reasons for the decision.
“After a thorough analysis, the government’s position is that currently Croatia will not join the ‘Peace Council’ for many reasons,” Plenkovic told reporters, adding that he would not specify what those reasons were.
The Croatian government had previously said the country had been invited to join the structure, which will be chaired by Donald Trump.
The Croatian Prime Minister had also said that Croatia, as a member state of the European Union, expected a harmonized European position on this issue.
The Peace Council, whose establishment was announced by Donald Trump last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, was initially part of the US plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
However, according to critics of the plan, the Council’s ambitions for resolving conflicts around the world are broader, which could make it a rival to the United Nations
