Pep Guardiola has admitted that Man City still have a way to go before they can properly challenge Arsenal for the Premier League trophy, but has urged his players to be ready to exploit any mistakes the league leaders make.
Man City won the derby against Liverpool as an away team today with a score of 2-1, remaining six points behind Arsenal.
“I have a feeling that a little bit of improvement won’t be enough to compete against Arsenal, but we still have room [to improve].”
“We have to play against Arsenal at home and of course, we have to beat them.”
“I’ve said it, 13 games in the Premier League, from my point of view, from my little experience, it’s a long time, a long time.”
“It’s fair. When you go into the last games playing against a team in the relegation battle, it’s a fair game because they live to survive and have long weeks to prepare, [whereas] you come from the FA Cup, you come from the Carabao Cup, you come from the Champions League.”
“It affects the title race. That’s why having nine, ten, eleven points is more difficult. That’s why all we can do is give Arsenal a hard time, be there, and try to use it if they sleep, if they make something [a mistake],” Guardiola said after the match
