William Stevenson, the ex-husband of former US First Lady Jill Biden, has been arrested on charges of murdering his wife, Linda Stevenson
Stevenson, 77, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder, New Castle County Police in Delaware said.
Stevenson was arrested after an “extensive investigation that lasted several weeks,” police authorities said.
A grand jury indicted Stevenson on Monday. He was sent to Howard Young Correctional Facility after failing to post $500,000 cash bail.
According to reports, the former First Lady married Stevenson in 1970, when she was 18 and studying at the University of Delaware, while he was 23.
The couple were married for five years before divorcing. She later married former President Joe Biden
