The British government has taken a step after pressure from the opposition and members of the ruling Labour Party to publish data related to politician Mandelson, who appeared in the notorious pedophile Epstein dossier.
Mandelson’s nomination papers as ambassador to Washington in 2024 will be submitted to a special parliamentary committee for scrutiny. The British government had previously refused on the grounds of preserving national security data.
Earlier, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he regretted giving Mandelson the job two years ago.
“Mandelson betrayed our country, Parliament and my party. Mr Speaker, he repeatedly lied to my team when asked about his relationship with Epstein before and during his tenure as ambassador. I regret appointing him.”
Mandelson had received payments from the notorious banker Epstein, as well as sent him government documents while he was business secretary about 15 years ago.
Other materials from the file also show previously unpublished images, including those of Jeffrey Epstein’s lifeless body and the cell where he ended his life.
